Pure Human - Be Gone

[Posted by Ted H]

Well that was certainly a wait. Enjoy the final confrontation. After this is some loose end tying and then we can finally call this damn project done!

[Pure Human - Be Gone]

-And was tumbling backwards onto the ground dragging a heavy body down with him. Blake kicked the figure up with his legs and continued the momentum over and away so the figure would land away from him.
"What the hell is that?" Whitey screamed as Blake was quick to his feet. The figure he had tossed was indeed Vitaearnus, who slowly rose to his feet with a slow and methodical pace. "Take him down!" Blake shouted as John immediately opened fire.
The physical form of Vitaearnus was different than previously observed. He was much taller than Blake remembered, and his tight bone colored skin extended over a sexless nude and bald figure. The most telling difference was the lack of a mouth and any facial features beyond his two sharp black slits where the eyes would go. John's gunshots disappeared into the figure but seemed to make no noticeable impact as he strode across the room.
Whitey stepped forward passed the men and thrust her glowing hands outward as she screamed "Be gone!" Vitaearnus staggered as his form began to glow, but ultimately stepped towards Whitey and in one fluid motion, reached out and backhanded her across the room. "Scatter!" John yelled as Vitaearnus reached up with both fists and slammed them down into the floor as Blake and John dove away. John was up quickly and firing again as Blake scrambled over to Whitey.

"Don't be dead. Don't be dead. Don't be dead," Blake repeated as he reached the girl and rolled her over. "Dammit," she groaned as she sat up "This demon is tough."
"It's not a demon," Blake said "Trying to send it to Hell isn't gonna work.
"I can't kill this thing," Whitey said "Not alone."
"We just need to get rid of him. Hell is too specific. Do you know any general banishing spells?"
"That'll take a minute to charge."
"Then get busy," Blake said as he got up and searched his coat quickly. "Crap," he said as he pulled out the blue chalk "I hate to waste it on this, but..." he began drawing a circle a few feet from Whitey and started drawing in some symbols inside. Whitey was unsure of what he was doing and opened her mouth to object, but stopped herself and instead clasped her hands together and began charging.
John had been bobbing and weaving as he unloaded as many bullets he could into Vitaearnus to no avail. "Doing great, John," Blake halfheartedly encouraged as he struggled to recall the last couple runes and symbols he needed before finishing the circle he was drawing. "Crude, but whatever," he commented as he then turned to try to help John, who was finally caught and thrown across the room and over the couch. Viaearnus walked over to attack the man again when Blake jumped him from behind and latched onto his back. In one hand he held his lighter, the other was balled up in a fist, already prepped for his beacon light.
"Don't blink," Blake said as he ignited his lighter and started the beacon; a blinding light suddenly shining right at the face of Vitaearnus, causing a mouthless screech that Blake was in no way prepared to guess as to how that was possible. Blake was also certain that this form of Vitaearnus was incapable of blinking. He tried to look away from the beacon, but Blake always kept the lighter right in view. Any attempt to grab or swat away the lighter was turned away by the intense heat and burning it caused him. All Vitaearnus could attempt was to swing around and hope to fling Blake off, but Blake held both arms tight around his neck.
Finally Vitaearnus grabbed for Blake's arm instead of the lighter. "Uh oh," he said as he was jerked around and hard onto the floor, dropping the lighter in the process. As darkness overtook the room again, Blake felt the grip on his arm tighten and suddenly he was flying up and into a wall before being pulled back and onto the floor.
"Back off!" John yelled as he slammed a flat screen TV onto Vitaearnus. The grip on Blake's arm remained until he was spun around and hurled at John, causing both men to tumble back across the room. "Are you ok?" John asked as Blake carefully got up. "I think he broke my arm," Blake responded through labored breaths "But I think we're wearing him down." Vitaearnus calmly strode across the room at the men, no signs of damage on his body.
"What do we do?" John asked "Cuz I'm out of bullets." Blake sighed as he looked down to his right arm as it hung uselessly. "We keep stalling," he said as he immediately screamed and rushed the approaching attacker, lowering his shoulder and tackling into him. Blake did little more than halt his progress, but when John joined in, they managed to push him backwards.
"This is a dumb plan," John said as Blake looked up to see a white arm raised above and ready to swat. "Move!" Blake shouted as he and John barely backed away in time as the floor splintered ahead of them. They retreated back until they hit a wall and were cornered. "Great," Blake said flatly. As Vitaearnus began his final approach, Whitey cried out "Oie!" from the other side of the room.
Whitey stood ready, completely covered with a glowing light, her fists ready at both sides of her. Her breathing was heavy as she struggled to maintain the energy contained within her. Vitaearnus, whose every step in his fight before had been calm, was now walking with more urgency towards Whitey as if he needed to take her out as soon as possible. "BE GONE!" Whitey bellowed as she shot her hands forward and lit Vitaearnus up like her.
He had been slowed to a snail's pace, but nevertheless every step made progress for Vitaearnus. "Blake, what do we do?" John asked worriedly. "I got this," Blake said as he extended his left hand, but stopped when he noticed where Whitey was standing. She had stepped forward from where she was before and was now ahead of where he had drawn his circle. "Son of a...Back up!" Blake yelled, but Whitey was oblivious to him as she struggled to contain her advancing foe.
Panic was beginning to overtake Whitey as Vitaearnus was almost within arms reach of her, but she stood her ground. "I'm getting her," John said. "Hurry," Blake said "And avoid the crossfire."
"No shit," John said flatly as he sprinted across the room, ducking under a last second grasp at him and over to Whitey. "Wait," she said through gritted teeth, but John ignored her and wrapped his arms around her torso. There was an electric current sensation jolting through his body from Whitey, but John ignored it as best he could and started dragging the girl backwards with him, just as Vitaearnus was about to reach her. They dragged over the circle Blake drew and back safely to where Whitey had originally been standing.
Any will Whitey had to argue at John was abandoned as she focused on pouring everything she had into banishing Vitaearnus. His steady progress continued until he reached the circle, then he was unable to move his feet out. Behind him was Blake, arm stretched out and chanting some phrases that were vaguely Latin. The circle on the floor began to glow and Vitaearnus began to fade. He looked down at his fading form and let out a frustrated growl. He then gave up trying to move and shifted so his face, with only it's black slits for eyes as features, could face Blake as he faded completely and was gone.
Whitey relaxed herself and would have collapsed to the ground had John not still had his arms wrapped around her. He was at least thankful that the electric feeling was gone. "I swear he was glaring at me just then," Blake said as he walked over to John, who finally released Whitey after she composed herself. "Are you ok?" John asked her. "Yeah," she responded.
"That was pretty badass what you did," John said.
Whitey caught herself smiling and looked away quickly. "Thanks," she said after a beat.
"Get a room," Blake said, causing Whitey to grind her teeth at him. "I got a question," Blake continued "When I make an effort to assist you, what compels you to ignore it and try to banish a powerhouse on solo?"
"I don't want your devil help," Whitey spat.
"That's not demonic!" Blake exclaimed "There's nothing demonic about that banishing circle!" Whitey said nothing. Blake rolled his eyes.
"Blake, are you ok?" John finally asked. Blake shrugged with his good said "Nothing a drink can't fix. Something hard though, like a triple digit proof vodka, cuz I need to get numb."
"Blake, no," John said "You're covered in blood."
Blake looked down on himself and noticed the splattered blood all over him. "Oh....crap," he said as he looked around to where he originally pulled Vitaearnus from. There in the middle of the room were the remains of Anin, now little more than a splattered red stain of a person.
            "Oh my God," Whitey gasped.
"For the record, I did state there was only about a 30% chance at survival rate," Blake said as he sighed.
"I don't understand," John said "What happened to her?"
"Human Clay," Blake said "Made Vitaearnus into a physical form I could pull out of Anin. Unfortunately, his physical form happened to be inside of Anin's physical form and apparently exploded out of her. I wasn't sure how fast the transformation into a physical being would be."
With a huff, Whitey stormed out of the house. "I don't think she's ok with casualties," John mused. "Yeah, sure," Blake said "THAT'S what she doesn't like here."
